HEALTHY | Banana Milkshake

When I was a kid, I used to love milkshakes. Whenever we went to the beach, I drank a milkshake and when I drink one now it still reminds me of those great times. I loved pretty much each flavour, except strawberry, but vanilla definitely was my go-to milkshake. My older nephew used to make us milkshakes whenever we were together at my grandma's house and they were always delicious.

For some reason, I stopped drinking them as often. Right now, it is because I'm eating healthier, but even a couple of years ago, I just wasn't into them as much anymore. I do enjoy them from time to time though. When I was browsing through one of my favourite Dutch foodblogs, Uit Pauline's Keuken, I bumped into her Skinny Banana Milkshake. I must admit, all credit for the recipe goes to her. The only reason why I'm putting it on here, is because I thought it would be nice to have one in English.

And it is so easy! I tried it out this afternoon and I was thinking back to those beach days. Lucky thing I'm going to the beach in a couple of weeks! You can add some cinnamon on top if you like - which I did, obviously. For me, it just made the milkshake even better. But you can definitely choose for yourself! Add a lot of milk if you like a fluid mixture, or add less if you like it to be quite thick. Mine was quite fluid, but I'm trying the thicker one out next time I make it. Enjoy!

Ingredients
for 1 large milkshake
  • 1 large banana
  • 1 glass of milk
  • a dash of cinnamon
Peel and cut the banana and put in the freezer. Put them on a plate, nicely lined up, to make them freeze faster.

Put your banana in a blender and add the milk. Blend all of this together until it becomes creamy. Make sure there are no chunks in there anymore and pour into a big glass.

Add some cinnamon on top and enjoy!
